19th Century, Leopold Eidlitz Carved Cherry Desk

19th Century, Leopold Eidlitz Carved Cherry Desk

$3,800.00

A 19th Century American carved cherry desk, designed by renowned architect Leopold Eidlitz and crafted by Weller, Brown, and Mesmer of Buffalo, New York, specifically for the New York State Assembly Chamber. The desk’s front features brass numerals “67,” adding a historical touch. The drawer interiors record past use, with several names and labels scrawled, including notable individuals like William T. Simpson of Patchogue, William Dinehart of Columbia County, Willoughby W. Babcock of Steuben County, and George Brown of Brooklyn. Shows light wear consistent with its age and use, and the leather top has been replaced, the interior drawers lack their original inserts.
