A Swedish Baroque-style hand carved walnut bench. With mouton legs and arched stretcher having leaf motif ornaments on cabriole legs. The seat upholstered in hand embroidered crewel work tapestry on an ivory wool homespun fabric, depicting Swedish folkloric motifs and figures in the style of itinerant wall tapestry painters of the 18th century such as Johannes Nilsson (1757-1827). Trimmed with a scalloped border. Bench is marked on underside in Swedish that the bench was made in 1947, tapestry circa 1950.
